This interactive graphics and maps section details the many areas affected by meth:

The User area follows the process of meth's affect on a user, discussing how the drug is ingested, the user's synaptic response, the patterns of abuse and finally, the long-term effects of meth use.

The process of making meth is as intricate as it is dangerous. The Labs section details the process of creating the drug; it illustrates the massive equipment used, the dangerous chemicals involved and the chemical reactions that are produced in creating the addictive finished product.

The Meth Web illustrates the trail meth has traversed across the globe, detailing meth's origins, as well as its worldwide distribution.

The History section provides a timeline that details the history of meth-- from its origin in 3000 B.C. through today.

Use our interactive Treatment Center Locator to find addresses and directions to substance-abuse treatment centers in the Central Valley's 17 counties. Upon selecting a center, you can then print out step-by-step directions to the location.

In 1999, law enforcement agencies in California discovered more than 2,000 labs that manufactured meth or made the substances used in its manufacture. The Meth Lab Locator section displays the locations of these meth labs and lab-waste dump sites. These maps then allow you to pinpoint the number of labs or dump sites found in your neighborhood, surrounding communities, or any region throughout the state.
